Downtown Rehabilitation Grants Extension

Downtown Rehabilitation Grants Extension

Salisbury Mayor, James Ireton, Jr., hereby announces an extension of the application due date for the City of Salisbury Rehabilitation Grants for Commercial Building Improvements in Downtown Salisbury. Due to concerns with the attachments that must accompany the application in order for the submission to be deemed complete, the City has decided to extend the application due date to give prospective applicants additional time to obtain the required approvals and compile the necessary attachments. Completed funding applications must now be received (not postmarked) by the Office of Business and Community Development by not later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014. Applications are currently available at the Office of Business and Community Development, 125 North Division Street, Room 104, Salisbury.

Funding for the Rehabilitation Grant program is being provided by the Community Legacy Program of the MD. Dept. of Housing & Community Development (DHCD). Total 2014 funding awarded to the City by DHCD for this program is $100,000. The maximum amount any single individual/business entity may request in this competitive funding round is $20,000. The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis, and all complete application packages will be reviewed by an internal committee comprised of City staff members. Five grants will be awarded to businesses located in Downtown Salisbury for interior and/or exterior improvements to the permanent structure in which their business is housed.

For additional information you may contact the following individuals at the Office of Business and Community Development: Laura Kordzikowski – Business Development Specialist – (410) 677-1915 or Deborah J. Stam – Director of Community Development – (410) 334-3031.

If the City of Salisbury has to extend a deadline for anything to do with downtown then they are schilling for someone or their isn't any interest what so ever in downtown.

My answer is all of the above.

There needs to be a better name for grants so the UN-educated know the money doesn't come from the money tree.

Saw down the meters, and things will happen on their own. No need for grants after the playing field is level.
