Candidates Discuss Ways To End Hunger In Delaware

MILFORD — A Food Bank-sponsored candidate forum designed to enlighten voters turned into a teaching lesson when audience members asked poignant questions.

This is not a debate, said Patricia Beebe, Food Bank of Delaware president and CEO, this is a conversation meant to spark dialogue and questions that will help end hunger.

The discussion was held at the food advocacy organization's Milford location, and began with each candidate speaking for three minutes on food issues facing the state.

Candidates agreed that hunger among the state's seniors and adolescents is a bigger issue than the general public realizes and that something needs to be done about it.

I thought Delaware was ranked as one of the states with the most obesity. And from what I see, the manufactured home denizens don't look hungry to me. Hunger is a myth in Delaware. However, people looking for free food in lieu of working is very real.
