Announcing new local artist, Debra L. Alms, "Breast Cancer & Abuse Survivor Vernissage" art show opening this Friday, June 13, 6-9pm, Bethany Fine Arts Gallery, 100 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Delaware, east to the beach of totem pole, Wine and Canapes. Debra graduated from Centennial High School in Howard County, Maryland and Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987 with BS in Architecture. She vacationed in Ocean City and Bethany almost every year since she was a baby. A devoted mom raising four strong willed daughters alone, they spent many summers of quality family time in Cayman Islands boating, snorkeling and swimming. After surviving near death from breast cancer complications and disabling domestic violence, she has been an exemplary role model of strength, fortitude and survival. Her medium is quite varied from charcoal, pen and ink, pastels, acrylics and water color, as her subject matter. The beach is her peace place in which she finds serenity and her talent shines through with every stroke of her pen or brush. She currently resides in Ocean City and will do commission work for homes, cars, boats, etc.. Her pen and ink drawings will be on display through the summer at the Bethany Gallery.
