Four Arrested After Troopers Uncover a Meth Lab South of Harrington

Harrington, DE - The Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit has arrested four people after the culmination of a four month long investigation into the manufacturing of Methamphetamine (Meth) at a residence on Woodyard Road.

On Wednesday June 11, 2014 at approximately 6:15 a.m., the Kent County Drug Task Force (DTF) with the assistance of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Dover Police Department, DNREC, and Little Creek Fire Department responded to the 1658 Woodyard Road in order to conduct a search warrant in response to an on-going investigation into the manufacturing of meth at the house. Upon arrival at the property, Joshua B. Wilson, 29 of Harrington, was located in a detached garage and after a brief struggle with troopers, he was taken into custody and found to be in possession of .1 gram of methamphetamine. Also located in the garage were Colt D. Towers, 30 of Greenwood, andNorman W. Meyer Jr., 51 of Federalsburg, MD who were both taken into custody without incident. Towers was found to be in possession of a four inch dagger and Meyer had three Oxycodone pills on him. Thomas N. Vanvliet, 40 of Harrington, was taken into custody in his residence. Upon conducting a search of the property, detectives located equipment and component mixtures of the manufacturing stages of Meth along with key ingredients in making the drug. Detectives also located three rifles, various types of ammunition, and a .38 caliber revolver.

Upon being transported back to Troop 3, Thomas Vanvliet (Black/light blue sweatshirt), the homeowner, was charged with three counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited, Operating a Clandestine Laboratory, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Conspiracy 2nd, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution on $59,200 secured bond.

Joshua Wilson (Red sweatshirt) was charged with five counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited, Operating a Clandestine Laboratory, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Conspiracy 2nd, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution on $123,200 secured bond.

Colt Towers (White T-shirt) was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and was committed to JTVCC in lieu of $2,000.00 secured bond. He was also found to have a capias out of Sussex County Family Court.

Norman W. Meyer Jr. (No Photo Available) was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was given a $400.00 unsecured bond on those charges however, he was incarcerated at JTVCC on two capiases out of Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.

Woodyard Road had partial closures for approximately four hours during the investigation. No evacuations were ordered as it was determined that there was no immediate hazard to nearby residents.
