Traffic Stop On I-95 Results In Drug And Gun Charges

Victor Jones, 47, of Hampton, VA
Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier I Quantity
Speeding
Committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $5,000 cash, $2,000 secured bail.

Newark – A Virginia man is in custody after Troopers discovered he was in possession of a large amount drugs and a gun while traveling on I-95.

The incident occurred at 7:33 p.m. when two Troopers patrolling I-95 noticed a speeding 2013 Chrysler 200 traveling southbound towards the toll plaza. The Troopers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Victor Jones, 47.

An ensuing search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a handgun, ammunition, and two vacuum-sealed bags containing a total of 965 grams of marijuana. All of these items were in the vehicle's trunk.

Jones was transported to Troop 6 where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, and speeding. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $5,000 cash, $2,000 secured bail.
