LOST DOG 1-21-14: UPDATE!!!!!

I can't believe it! Johnson-McKee animal hospital called. He was spotted at E.D. Supply and Debbie found him in their warehouse about 10 minutes ago!! Thank you again for your help and support. We are all so happy!
Charlie, a chihuahua, ran off from his home near the park in Salisbury last night. No collar. If you see him, please call Debbie at 443-669-3402. Any help will be most appreciated!

Publishers Notes: We are very disappointed about this particular lost animal. Usually we see pets reunited within hours but in this case 24 hours have passed and something just isn't right.

Please keep an eye on neighbors as someone has more than likely taken this pet in and has not seen it here on SBYNews.

What a cutie!

Call the humane society to see if anyone has turned him in. Please put identification on this cutie if you find him. Embroidered collars are great. 410-749-7603 please let the public know if you find him.

TOO COLD RIGHT NOW....I agree with above comments...

Years ago a friend was pet sitting in OC and the dog got loose and then lost. It was a cold wet windy day like today. We called the police and animal control and they were out looking for the dog also. The lady who was the animal control officer said to leave the door that the dog is used to going in and out of open. Sometimes the dog is holed up close by and scared. We sat in the house with the back door wide open and sure enough the dog ran back in. I remember it was cold and was not just a few minutes before the dog ran in but more like an hour or maybe even a bit longer. I've since done this when my cat got out and it worked then too.

Great advice! So concerned for this poor little guy !!!!

my dogs ran off once and we were told if you put out something that had our scent on it, like an unwashed shirt or a blanket that the dog would smell it and find its way back home. Sure enough our dogs returned shortly after that

Train your dog to respond to a dog whistle.Much easier to track him/her down if they get lost.

I feel for you. It is such a helpless feeling to lose your dog because you know he / she could be anywhere.

I now have an actual GPS attached to my dogs collar. I get a cell phone alert as soon as my dog steps out of my pre defined zone around my house. If my dog is lost I can track right to her from my phone no matter where she is.

This service cost me $8.00 a month and is well worth it.

I will pray for your dogs safe return.

What a great service for your pet and the GPS is a reasonable cost! Thanks for that info!

There is an up front cost of $100 for the GPS. Often they have sales and you can get it for $70. They do give 3 months free service though so that saves you $24.

A couple of years ago I lost both of my dogs. They were gone for 10 days and I was a wreck. On the 10th day one dog returned home without the other.

With the help of Joe via SBY News I was able to find out that my other dog was hit by a car and killed.

I know the tracker will not prevent my dog from getting hit by a car if she runs off but at least I can get to her quickly enough to help reduce that risk.

The GPS is called Tagg.

I would go door to door, put up posters with his picture and offer a reward! I pray someone has him and is taking good care of him!

My dogs also have GPS. Mine is made by company called PetTronix. No monthly fee. It's a collar and a handheld monitor. They run about $180.00. The problem is the collar would be bulky for such a little guy like Charlie. You can program 2 collars to a monitor if need be.

I had looked into PetTronix. While I loved the fact that they did not have a monthly fee I much preferred the ability to track my dog through my cell phone rather than a specific handheld device.

Currently if my dog leaves her safe zone around her house all 4 people in my home plus my neighbor will get a text message and email alert. All 5 of us can track at the same time.

The good part about this is that if I am away from my home and I find out my dog is missing I can look for her right away without having to go and get my hand held device.

Also Taggs GPS is pretty small and fits on any collar. It text me when her battery is getting low but I don't have to charge more than once a week.

Either way it is certain that having any means to track your dog is well worth the money and the peace of mind.

Still praying for you dogs safe return.

I like the GSP suggestions as when a dog is on the loose a lot of the times they are scared and won't come up to strange people. I've had this experience many times because I am the kind of person when I see a lose dog, I'm fearful they will be hit, so I try and get them safe so I can them look for the owner.
