Okay, I have a root question here for anyone of the Islam religion to answer, as I am left clueless.
What would Islam possibly find about the action of hosting the Olympics or the Olympics themselves that would require a terrorist bombing?

Lots of infidels in one place and international coverage make these bombings more effective for propaganda to further their political cause.
