$50K Reward Offered For Man Suspected Of Shooting Officer

SAVAGE, Md. —Howard County police are offering a reward up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted for shooting a police officer in Laurel Wednesday afternoon.

Stephon Prather, 29, is wanted for attempted murder of a police officer and multiple counts of assault against officers.

Police received a call shortly after 4 p.m. from a business in the 9500 block of Washington Boulevard. The caller reported seeing a man with a gun. Three officers responded. When they arrived, they confronted the man, who immediately opened fire, striking Officer Steven Houk, 30, police said.
