Meet William Campbell, Candidate For Maryland State Comptroller

Next WCTP Meeting Thursday, Oct 24th:
William Campbell, Candidate for Maryland State Comptroller

Ever wonder what a comptroller does? A comptroller ( pronounced con-troller) is essentially a state's chief accountant or financial officer. Some of a comptroller's responsibilities' include:

Overseeing the state budget
Ensuring our tax dollars are being well-spent and not wasted through fraud and abuse
Preparing financial reports for the state
Examining government contracts
Collecting taxes and funds to pay for state programs
Educating citizens about state tax issues

Although state comptrollers don't make laws, they can issue proposals regarding state financial matters and enact new rules and guidelines.

In 2014 voters will choose between the continuation of policies that have stifled economic growth and continued dependency on the Federal Government, or growing private sector jobs that will ensure Maryland's future prosperity. A key factor in choosing which path will depend upon who occupies the office of Maryland State Comptroller.
