Last night I received word that people were publicly talking about PRMC offering $3,000.00 to certain employees not to talk to the press. Could this be true?
We also heard that PRMC may be downgrading their Trauma Certification in order to save additional money by not having to pay Doctors "on call".
Blame it on Obamacare or poor management, should the pattern continue and any of the above come true, PRMC is in deep trouble.
SBYNews called this out many months ago and so far all we have exposed has happened. Reliable sources have stated the Hospital is losing some $2,000,000.00 (+ or -) a month. We exposed their management asking employees to give up vacation days in order to avoid layoffs, yet the layoffs came anyway very soon after. We've exposed the salaries of executives and some even gave evidence of PRMC's plans to spend $2,000,000.00 a month in upgrades and new construction. Funny how those numbers, (future expenses vs current losses) match.
The bottom line, can you provide the same care to your customers when your cutting back, let's hope so. There are many quality and dedicated Doctors and Nurses on staff and the negative impact to the Eastern Shore is going to be huge.
If there was ever a time when your Mayor should be holding a Press Conference, this is it. Reassure the Public Jim. PRMC pays NO TAXES as a Non Profit. The taxpayers should expect their Mayor to sit down with PRMC and find out just how bad this will impact our local economy. Its called being PROACTIVE.

Atlantic General is hiring? That's what I heard.
Joe, Ricky Pollitt should be sitting down with this crowd also. I can't believe no one has addressed the economic impact this is going to have to Wicomico County.
Both Rick Pollitt and Jim Ireton are democrats and this is the democratic plan. Do they care NO!
When the local income tax is short being returned from the state it will then get the attention from the local gov't. But as always, Wicomico is reactive and proactive. We need a lot of changes in 2014.
Atlantic general is having an open house on Tuesday... funny how they aren't having the same issues that Prmc is having. I just got laid off and frankly it is a blessing to not have to deal with these shady people any more!

Agreed, this is a blessing really. I got my golden ticket out of that place. I'm never looking back. Being laid off gave me a sense of future and hope that I haven't had in years.
9:04-so is PRMC according to their website.
I heard AGH started switching to mostly part time workers several years ago and most of the open positions are for part time 20-maybe 36 hrs a week.
Most severance packages have a clause that requires the recipient to conduct themselves in a manner that doesn't disparage the employer. Mine did when I was downsized. I took the money and lived up to the agreement, and ended up contracting for that company for several years until the place was completely restructured. They knew that I was trustworthy and was able to meet their needs, and ended up making ~7x the money that I did previously for each hour of work put in to that place. In the first year, they paid me more than if I worked their part time. The second and third years were about 3/4 of my old salary. There was plenty of left over time in my day to build a business that sustains me and my family.
If you're upset enough to want to speak to the press as a form of revenge, by all means go for it. But don't expect the employer to want to help you out with a severance package when they probably have no legal requirement to give it to you.
AGH said in a news article that they saw this problem with Obama Care coming 3 years ago and they prepared for it. What happened with PRMC?
I heard about the $ to keep there mouths shut also.
12:52-Every hospital saw this thing coming with obamacare. I really don't know what to think anymore. This mess has hit every hospital in the country. I guess one good thing with PRMC is that they held out until the last minute to lay people off which a lot of the other hospitals haven't. A lot started going to the 20 hour work weeks years ago and started laying off a lot earlier.
Nurses are being laid off nationwide, not just locally. It is the trend where they have found a loop hole that certified nursing assistants are replacing RNs at an alarming rate. They can pay them a much lower wage. So a piece of advice is if you have a loved one in the hospital for ANY reason, ask lots of questions. You are going to have to advocate for their care.
There were many layoffs today also. So emotionally and psychologically draining! Ugh!!!
Don't expect people to even want to go to this hospital for nothing
If PRMC is non-profit, how can they afford to pay such exorbitant salaries to their key personnel? I have wondered about this for a long time. They have to be making money somewhere.
First of all it's not the mayors job to speak about PRMC . He has no control over the situation. Again if you locals left the shore for a week or two and went to an area with a lot of people you would see lots of good paying jobs case closed. Not all hospitals around the country are having PRMC issues. Pull your heads out people and take a good look around. The eastern shore is the problem not the country.
Hospitals all over the country have been experiencing layoffs for quite some time. Haven't any of you read the articles about Vanderbilt Hospital laying off their housekeeping staff? Yes people, the nurses are expected to clean patient rooms and provide patient care. Nasty stuff going on everywhere not jusr on the sure. While I am sure there has been some poor management at PRMC this is an Obamacare issue, not just a PRMC issue. As for AGH hiring, dont you all find it funny they are having this big job fair at the same time all these people are losing jobs? Wow they have some great Marketing staff! Everyone, go to AGH when you are sick, they are so nice and PRMC is so mean. For real people, how many positions could a sixty bed hospital have open when last week their only open positions were per diem which means as needed which means you may never be needed.
