Generator Starts Fire Under Bay Bridge Deck

Authorities say a power generator under the deck of Chesapeake Bay Bridge's westbound span sparked a fire that closed the bridge, backing up traffic for miles.

Lt. Shannon Callahan, Queen Anne's County Department of Emergency Services dispatch supervisor, says the generator was in a construction zone in the bridge's under-structure when the fire started Sunday evening.

Maryland Transportation Authority police Sgt. Jonathan Green says the fire closed the span for about two hours and vehicles stopped on the bridge were backed off.

Is that Generator killing people like it's cousin the gun?

Yes -- I saw where someone said a cigarette was thrown out of a vehicle & started the fire. Bet they were just hoping that was true so then they could bash smokers. Wonder just how they feel about their "Obama Care" -- like, how do they like govt. telling them what Dr. to see & what medicine they will receive and who will live & who will die. Guess what -- you all started it with bashing the smokers & letting Gov. control when & where smokers can smoke. LOL Karma is a good thing.

Cigarettes rarely start fires. You could drop one in a can of gas, and it would just go out, same as a lit match. They should kick that company off the bridge and get one on there that knows what they are doing. How many YEARS have they been working on that bridge?
