Resume:
Georgetown, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Georgetown man after he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol for the 7th time.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. yesterday evening as a trooper on routine patrol observed red Dodge Dakota southbound in the left turn lane of North DuPont Boulevard (US113) proceed through a red light and turn onto North Bedford Street (SR18/404). The trooper, who was already traveling in the southbound lanes of US113, was able perform a traffic stop on the pick-up truck within a quarter of a mile of observing the infraction. As the trooper made contact with the operator, who was later identified as Darren M. McGrath, 59 of Georgetown, a strong odor of alcohol was detected and a DUI investigation ensued.

McGrath was taken back to Troop 4 in Georgetown where he was arrested for his 7th DUI. A computer check revealed he had six previous DUI convictions (3/14/09, 9/09/08, 5/22/07, 8/10/04, 4/07/98, and 4/28/98); this arrest would make #7.

Along with the DUI offense, McGrath was also charged with Driving While Suspended and Revoked and Failure to Stop at a Red Light. He was committed to SCI on $10,600.00 cash bond after being arraigned at JP3.

I love how Delaware puts up pics of these offenders but Maryland continues to let people who have have 7 ride on suspended license and drunk and just slap them on the hands and let them walk away. I guess it will take killing an innocent person for them to do something. Does the judges even pull up there past records , I am thinking NOT .

12:18 you are very correct. This is what happens when there isnt anything to do. Boredom breeds trouble. These people like to drink too much and its never going to change. Ive never seen so many DUI arrests and alcoholics in one place. I need to leave this overrated place. lol

10:11 He isn't, the state is. Lock him up, give him 25-life and he can't endanger any more citizens.

Where in the heck is the DRUNK DRIVER REGISTRY at ???? I for one would love to know how many repeat drunk drivers live around me to keep a eye out for these drunks.???

7:12-That is public information, but a person could spend forever researching and get nowhere.Public information does not always mean easily accessible.I agree totally with you. There should be a drunk driving registry if the courts allow them to continue driving.

OK, if a persons license is suspunded and revoked, how is the sate letting them drive?? They drive illegally. And, as far as punishment, Wicomico will give jail time as soon as 2nd DWI. I know from experience. So dont say Md is lax, at least not in this county (Wicomico)
