Resume:
Seaford, DE- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred earlier this morning near Seaford.

The incident occurred around 7:10 a.m. as Kevin Pritchett was operating a 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck westbound on Brickyard Road slowing to turn left into a private business parking lot. Aaron M. Partusch was operating a 2006 Kawasaki EXF motorcycle eastbound on Brickyard Road approaching the pickup truck. The truck subsequently turned into the path of the motorcycle causing it to strike the right front corner of the truck, ejecting Partusch. The motorcycle was forced off the south side of the roadway where it struck a mailbox before coming to a stop. The Ford pickup was able to come to a controlled stop on the south side of the road.

Aaron M. Partusch, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kevin Pritchett, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this incident. Alcohol or drugs to not appear to be a factor in this case and charges are pending upon the completion of the investigation. Brickyard Road was closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

**Traffic delays should be expected in the area on Tuesday around 9:30 a.m. as the CRU team will be on scene continuing their examination into this collision.**

Motorcyclists, please read my words as a 59 year old biker. They will turn left in front of you, period. The trick is to either speed up and get through the critical turn path before the opposing vehicle is in place to make the move, or slow down in a way to even stop until you have made positive eye contact up to motions and waving through by the vehicle driver.
Rule #1, the motorcycle rider will always be the big loser in any contact with a car or truck, period. Rules of the road do not apply here. A crash with a car means you either die or are critically injured, and the driver of the car or truck is just fine...felt a little bump.

Don't be in that intersection at that particular time, period.

good advice. bikes are smaller and harder to see. I ride too and even I have missed them while watching for traffic. Luckily, I haven't hit one.

And then you have the nuts, for whatever reason, seem to intentionally crowd and encroach on bikes.

They pass a bike and come over too soon, they use part of the bikes lane, etc.

You really do have to drive for yourself and the other guy.

And your head will not survive well against the pavement. That's what helmets are for, even if it is legal not to wear one. Trust me, I found out the hard way.
