Laurel, DE- Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a 35 year old Berlin, Maryland woman in connection with allegedly raping a 14 year old male.
On Wednesday February 6, 2013, detectives at Troop 4 in Georgetown began a rape investigation after a 14 year old boy disclosed to a family member that he had a sexual relationship with Katheryn L. Carmean, 35 of Berlin, Maryland. The incidents reportedly occurred over a ten month period as the victim would periodically stay at Katheryn Carmean’s residence located on Mt. Zion Road near Laurel. Carmean, who recently moved to Maryland, was an acquaintance of the victim through a friendship with her son.
Detectives conducted a comprehensive and thorough investigation into the complaint and obtained a warrant for Carmean’s arrest. She was picked up yesterday at her place of employment in Seaford and brought back to Troop 4 where she was charged with the above listed offenses. She was arraigned at JP2 and committed to DJBWCI on $57,000.00 secured bond.
Because of the sensitivity of this case, and in consideration of the victim, only limited information will be released.

For some reason I don't think she tackled the victim, drug him behind a building and raped him. I believe the 14 y/o was just as guilty. I am sure he was just as mature as any 18 y/o adult. Was she sick with having sex with a minor? Of course and she should suffer the consequences for her poor judgment.

Over a ten month period! A 14 yr old boy! Is not rape. Poor decisions yes. Sex with a minor, failure to report a crime, Ect. Maybe the first time was rape, If he/she forces the other. Both know it was wrong. Her more so. She should receive the most punishment. They both knew exactly what they were doing.

Children's brains at 14 years old are not capable of making adult decisions. If that were the case, then the 14 year old CHILD would be classified as an adult. Rape is rape, period, whether or not he was drugged or tackled or whatever. Had this been a man arrested for the same thing, you wouldn't be saying such ridiculous statements. I hope the woman, upon conviction, is treated like any other pedophile.

I agree with 10:43 and 12:11. She has 10 counts of rape and her bond is only $57K. Are you kidding me??? She will also probably be let off with a suspended sentence and probation. If the roles were reversed, the man would be held without bond and probably get a minimum of 10 years!! Complete double standard.
To 10:52, the brains of a 14 year old are capable of making several adult decisions. Thats why you see 14 year olds being tried as adults in many criminal cases.
You folks are missing the point. A 14-year-old does not have the maturity of an adult. The law doesn't let them drive, serve in the military, drink, own a gun, serve on a jury...
Get a grip.
RAPE is a term applied to MINORS, even if they are WILLING to participate because they are still CHILDREN.
Those of you talking about "being that lucky at 14" make me sick, speaking of double standards. If it was your 14-year-old daughter doing it willingly with some 35-year-old man, you probably would have "whooped her hide."

That same 14 y/o girl you are referring to has probably had more partners than you have. They are teaching students about STD's and safe sex in health class these days. Everyone in the school system knows that kids that age are very sexually active. Some of you people needs crawl from under that rock.

Rape Defined: an act or instance of robbing or despoiling or carrying away a person by force.
The boy consented therefore it is not rape. If a 14 year old girl consents it is not rape. We are born with sexual urges...all of us. It should only be a crime if it is taken by force. Maybe uncle sam's soldiers should be asking the boy what he wants..he is, after all, the "victim."
I, and every other male on the planet, wish we were that lucky at age 14.
