There are those who might be concerned about spying — by the government, hackers or someone else — on their phone calls and text messages. Well, now there’s an app for that.
According to Slate, the firm Silent Circle has released a smartphone app that encrypts data. As Ryan Gallagher for Slate puts it, “that means photographs, videos, spreadsheets, you name it—sent scrambled from one person to another in a matter of seconds.”
The company’s press release stated the Silent Phone app is available for both Apple and Android devices. It is described as the first peer-to-peer encryption tool for smartphones and tablets, which means information doesn’t pass through a third-party.

Thank god.Now it can remain a secret that my wife called and asked me to pick up a loaf of bread. If that info got out it could ruin my life.
Ha! And LOL! ANYONE who thinks that UNencrypting that app would be a HARD thing for the NSA, the FBI, Homeland Security, the Secret Service, or the CIA is delusional. That program would take less than 2-3 hours to break. And I'll bet you something else. That company has ALREADY given the code to the government and if not, they (the gov't) has ALREADY cracked it. GUARANTEED. 100%. Don't waste your money. And know this --- an encrypted signal is going to catch the government's attention in about 5 seconds. It would like lighting a fire at night in a combat zone.....

You certainly have a point. Although, if everyone
used encryption the manpower to spy on everyone would have to be staggering.
