Laser Pointers, Wind Energy & Sex Offender Legislation On Week Three Agenda

The third week of the 2013 Maryland General Assembly Session gets underway Monday night, with much of the proceedings centering on a ceremony to mark Martin Luther King Day.

A number of Democratic lawmakers are not expected to attend the session as they are expected at inaugural balls in Washington.

On Tuesday, Governor Martin O'Malley will hold a rally for his offshore wind energy bill. The plan would build wind turbines ten miles off the coast of Ocean City. The goal is to produce a cleaner and less expensive source of electricity. The proposal would likely add a $2 monthly surcharge to electric bills. The governor has introduced this bill in the last two years, and it has never emerged from committee.

I thought the object was to make electricity CHEAPER, not more expensive!

10:12 You must understand that anything O'Malley touches has a price tag on it. If you look at the numbers, the construction and yearly maintenance on off shore turbans is just not practical. Hopefully our State representatives will see that off shore wind power is not the answer.
