I really hate to be the spelling police, and the commenters, well, they don’t claim to be professional journalists, so that’s a bye.
But Jared Hill, in his article on the OC fire quoted a witness as saying, “,,,he knew the flew was open and…”, speaking of a fireplace. In the story of the triple shooting, the story starts out talking about the “grizzly” scene.
I’m pretty sure I knew these two words by the 4th grade.
My head hurts!

Joe, be fair. Your spelling is often awry.
Joe is being fair. That was sent in to him by me, a reader like yourself, 10:19. And I think I've heard and seen Joe admit to his own mistakes all the time here and in person!
You'll never see it on the DT, 47, or 16 sites very often, though!
There is a Destination Delmarva billboard between Cambridge and Vienna that says "Your almost there". You would think someone would have caught this before it got to be a billboard. Apparently everybody involved in this one was borderline illiterate. The government education system has created a whole generation of ignorance. The subjects are easier to fool and thus control when they are stupid.
bad spelling on the internet and everywhere else is commonplace today, it's a sign of the times, like the communist victory in the election. the only thing the new majority takes pride in anymore is what dey got and what dey make.
Maybe the spelling police should have to post their real names when commenting on others spelling.
I live in Bivalve, a few summers ago, one of the local intellectuals placed a handwritten sign on a telephone pole at the corner of rt.349 and Jesterville road offering "STAWBERRIES and TOMTOES" for sale, no joke dude!! poor Tom, he's been walking in circles ever since.
349 and Jesterville road? Could very easly be toms toes 4sale.
Whatever folks!!!Get a life it's not all that important is it? Everyone isn't perfect!
That's from a reliance on the spell checker. Both of those words are spelled correctly. It's their usage that is incorrect.

Excuse me! I'm perfect.
