President Barack Obama’s re-election to a second term takes away some of the uncertainty that small business owners have been carrying around. The question now is whether he can satisfy those who say he hasn’t done enough to help them expand and create jobs.
During Obama’s first term, the president pointed to steps he took to help small companies, such as proposing the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 that cut taxes for small companies and made it easier for them to obtain federally guaranteed loans. These steps have helped some small businesses start their recovery from the recession.
“We’ve been seeing steady albeit modest growth in the economy since the president took office and we are cautiously optimistic,” says John Arensmeyer, CEO of Small Business Majority, an organization that lobbies on behalf of small companies.

Small business will never thrive in the NObama world of economics. We will tank out by 2015.
When you "get it", you'll realize that Obama still isn't making these decisions. Never has, never will.
Close.
Small business help? I didnt get one. When should I expect some? Never?
I plan on laying off, if Romney won I planned hiring
I think I'll close mine, go unlicensed and work for cash. There is no way I can pay all the insurance, license fees, and such and keep things going. If I have an insurance / damage claim, it doesn't matter, by paying all the fees, my business is guaranteed to fail anyway, so it's really the same crap without the added costs.
Besides, from past experience when my own employees went unlicensed out on their own, taking my customers, without insurance or licenses, the IRS, State Comptroller, MD Home Improvement Board, and everyone else said collectively, "We can't prosecute them because they don't hold licenses! Insurance Underwriters cannot unless there is a claim. So they compete with me without overhead! I'll join the crowd, now.
Obama has no plan for small business unless you donated to his campaign then you'll get what you want and then some.Thats how it works people.
The fact is "true" small businesses are thriving under Obama.
I am a long time licensed Home Improvement Contractor and I can back up the comments from 11:37 as being all too painfully true. The Maryland Home Improvement Commission is a joke - they exist only to collect fees from license holders and hire affirmative action qualifiers from Baltimore City to answer phones. If you are unlicensed you get your clients to pull permits if required and all is legal. I have tried to turn unlicensed people in to the commission before and have been dismissed as though it didn't matter in the least. It just dosen't pay anymore to conduct business in a legal manner. I quit. When people hire cheap, unlicensed and uninsured "contractors" and they get a poor job what do they do - they never blame themselves for hiring bottom feeders - they run down all contractors as being cheats. You reap what you sow.
10:31am or anyone else, what is the difference between a "true" small business and an "untrue"small business?
