Driven by high prices and new drilling methods, U.S. production of crude and other liquid hydrocarbons is on track to rise 7 percent this year to an average of 10.9 million barrels per day. This will be the fourth straight year of crude increases and the biggest single-year gain since 1951.
The boom has surprised even the experts.

Really? Under Obama?
i pray this is true. we need to drill anywhere we can to become energy Independent asap. we also need many more refineries. this would create jobs, jobs and more jobs and of course lower the price of fuel...just gitter done
1019-The only area of drilling the Obama Administration has sway with, is on Federal lands. On Federal lands, oil production is down 14%.
If this is in fact true, when will we, the American people, see a DECREASE at the gas pump??
So...you bash Obama that he isn't handling things right and then post an article saying how the US oil output is "surging?"
1219-Surging on private land and state land, down 14% on federal lands/water.
So no, Obama isn't handling it right. That's why a Louisana judge held the Administration in contempt last year.
255, love how you conveniently forget to include that production was up the previous 2 years to nearly 10-year peaks. The drop was coming off a spike. But I know, when there are political points to score, cherry pick the facts.
