A federal appeals court is scheduled to hear arguments Wednesday on the constitutionality of Maryland’s controversial requirement that legal gun owners have a “good and substantial reason” to carry concealed weapons.
Current state law requires residents to provide reasons they need to carry concealed handguns when applying for permits. Based on those reasons, permits can be denied.
The federal court struck down the law in March, ruling it violated the Second Amendment. Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Ganslerhas appealed the ruling, which will be argued before the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond.

When the SA in Worcester doesn't even know what the gun laws are, we are all in trouble. Read the DT article this AM. He states that even with a permit it is illegal to transport a loaded gun, and later in the article states that it is illegal to transport a long gun. I bet the deer are breathing a sigh of relief.
10:46, I would take anything in the DT's with a grain of salt. I've not read the article but I would not be surprised if they didn't intentionally skew Beau Oglsby's words. They are always bias toward any Republicans and Oglesby is a republican.
The DT's out and out makes statements in their paper that people don't even make. They even use quotes. Remember this happened to Terry Cohen? They are not credible.

Its waaaaaay past the time these overbearing "we know what's best for you" Nazi's stop denying our Constitutionally GUARANTEED --- read that again, Heinrich -- rights. We have to ASK the police(!?) IF we can have our rights? I've read the Constitution and there is NO place in it that says the police get to tell us what rights we can exercise. THEY (the police) kill civilians by the hundreds EVERY YEAR, many of them unarmed, some of them children, and they get to tell US (their BOSS, whether they like to hear that or not) if WE can carry a gun??? They are worried that we will be able to shoot back at the biggest gang in the country. I say carry a gun anyway. We don't need or want their "permission".
I will do what I want because I am a free man. I will protect my family because cops cant.
When law abiding citizens are allowed to carry arms. Home-boys will chill out and get a job instead of robbing others, and Maryland's crime rate will go down significantly.
The whole law is unconstitutional, as it leaves the decision making process up to the State Po;ice without ANY clear guidelines except "carrying large sums of money" When "large" has no definition. Obviously large sums on money are more important to them that life itself, Liberty, and protection of one's loved one's lives. Until there is clear definition, then the Constitution is the Law of the Land. Mine is carried in a pouch integral with my concealed holster.
