Defense: Local Cows, Not Perdue Chickens To Blame For Polluting Md. Streams

Environmentalists may be targeting poultry giant Perdue, but they’re doing it by going after one small farm.
Alex DeMetrick reports it could be a precedent-setting federal trial, with manure in the middle of it.
Federal court in Baltimore is a long way from Alan Hudson’s farm on the Eastern Shore, but for the past few weeks he’s been a co-defendant along with Perdue Farms in a lawsuit alleging the chickens he raises for Perdue have polluted waterways

So there IS pollution, they are just figuring out which animal is causing it? Have I got that right?

I recently read a study done by Johns Hopkins on chicken feathers. They gathered up some feathers and tested them. They found traces of Prozac, antibiotics, Benedryl, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and of course arsenic.
Arsenic supposedly colors the meat to make it more attactive to consumers. The Benedryl and Prozac is used to reduce anxiety in chickens who are stressed due to their living conditions.
Caffine was also found and is used so the chickens stay awake and spend more time eating.
This is really disturbing that the govenment allows this to happen and not even make this stuff known on labels. Don't eat it. Don't even let you dog eat it.

Salisbury, MD dumping raw sewage into the river all the time doesn't help

Yes 9:58. It appears that all parties are admitting pollution but it's a battle of the poop experts.
I jsut wish everyone would admit that we are all responsible and everyone do what they can no matter how small their contribution.
This reminds me of Obama blaming everything on Bush.

Eat more cows!

I do 10:24 and I took it one step further and bought a cow raised on grass directly from the farmer.
This was my New Years resolution to try and eat less processed foods-the Farm to Table motto.

Most is related to factory farming so bottom line is people are to blame. Doesn't matter if it's cow pig chicken or human waste we are all responsible. The shore is covered with chicken farms so yes I would say a lot of the pollution in our own waterways and the Bay are coming from this. Plus people always take the easy way out instead of proper disposal they just run this waste off in the most convientiant place for them never thinking about what they are doing to the environment or what we are leaving behind for our kids.

Don't forget the garbage that's broungt down from Jersey & other places & dumped here on the Shore---plus disposals from 1000's of companys that have gone in the bays & oceans for years.

This makes me sick about what they found in chickens. It ALL comes down to "It's All about the Money!"

1:12 mentions "the garbage." We all need to make an effort to reuse, repurpose, recycle. If at all possible buy economy sizes products and refill the smaller bottle. Try to not purchase lunch meats and other foods in those plastic containers. The manufacturers will get the message and start repackaging in more environmentally friendly (and less expensive) packaging.

The lead and creasote (SP?) used on all of the crab pots in the bay doesn't help either. Lead fishing sinkers, we could go on and on.
