October 30, 2012 - Salisbury, MD – After conducting an extensive tour of Wicomico County, Executive Pollitt decided to lift the State of Emergency as of 5:30pm today. Pollitt issued the Declaration of Emergency Sunday morning in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy.
Along with Pollitt, the team of Emergency Management officials traveled from Sharptown to Waterview to Willards, examining road accessibility and speaking with residents in impacted neighborhoods. Although the group observed areas of high standing water – specifically in areas targeted during the voluntary evacuation – debris and downed trees, the overall assessment is that Wicomico County ‘fared well’ in comparison to neighboring counties.
Wicomico County officials are requesting those who suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy, including homeowners, businesses and mobile homeowners, to report the damage by calling 211. Information will be used to document damage and help local emergency management agencies assess damage to determine if federal assistance can be pursued.
