Fruitland Police Department Press Releases 8-9-12

DATE & TIME: Tuesday August 7, 2012 @ 1208 hours

DISPOSITION: Released to WCDC

SYNOPSIS: On the above date, an Officer of the Fruitland Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by the suspect in the area of E. Cedar and Poplar Street. The suspect initially refused to stop and upon doing so exited the vehicle and fled from officers on foot. A very brief foot pursuit ensued and the suspect attempted to discard a bag containing suspected Marijuana. The suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Search incident to arrest revealed the suspect was in possession of a large quantity of U.S. currency. The suspect was found to be unlicensed as well. The suspect was transported to WCDC without further incident and released to Central Booking.

CASE NO.: Warrant Arrest
PERSON CHARGED: John Anthony Woods
AGE: 26
CHARGE(s) DOC Retake
DISPOSITION: Released to Maryland State Police

SYNOPSIS: On the above date, Fruitland Police became aware that the above named suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant and that he was in the area of 302 Poplar Street. As officers arrived in the area, they began speaking to residents at the apartments located at that address. While speaking to residents, officers heard a commotion in the rear of a second floor apartment and learned that the suspect had fled through a window. A brief foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was turned over to the custody of the Maryland State Police.
