How Much Is The Obamacare Penalty Tax Will Cost You

Many Americans are furious that Obamacare will require them to buy health insurance.

Most of these folks seem to hate the idea that Obama is forcing them to do something more than they hate the idea of shelling out money.

But for those who also care about the money, here are the details.

The good news is that, for most people, the "penalty tax" for those who choose not to buy health insurance will cost a lot less than health insurance.

As with everything tax-related, there's no simple answer to "How much is the Obamacare penalty tax?" But here are some key points, from FactCheck.org:

"The $695 per-person penalty is only for those who make between $9,500 and ~$37,000 per year. If you make less than ~$9.500, you're exempt"

So there you go. How are people who make between those figures going to afford this penalty/tax?

The kicker is that the doctor's rates are going to go up same as they have in Massachusetts. A simple vaccine that costs $25-$40 here now, will now go up to over $100. That's part of the plan. They are going to make paying out of pocket unrealizable for most people.

This decision may decide whether I can afford a car to drive to work, or health insurance. Of course I could decide whether I need my transportation to work more than I need my house. Maybe I should start looking for a nice sturdy cardboard box to live, in my old age.

I really question the mentality of the people who support this. It was sold on benefitting lower income people and it's going to end up hurting them terribly. People bought into the rhetoric without question or doing their own fact checking.
I'm particularly distressed at those who believed it was "care" that wouldn't be denied when in reality it is coverage w/a pre existing condition.
Most don't even know how "condition" is defined in Obamacare. It does not cover all illness and disease and is rather limited to things such as heart disease, SOME cancers, asthma.
Also if you have one of these defined conditions you are limited on the plans to choose from-2 in MD, 3 in DE.

No, those in poverty will not have to pay, as before, the working lower middle class will be footing the bill, it's just going to cost more and we don't have a choice.

Since the IRS will now have access to everyone's bank accounts, I wonder how many people will be drawing cash out of the bank? To sit on like people did during the great depression of the late 20's, not to be mistaken for the great depression of 2008. The term "Double Dip Resession" just sounds better.

Have you seen the size of that document of legislation? Not even for a lifetime toilet book, could one read all that is in that bill. Those in congress who supported it, didn't even read it.

Thanks for that info 11:44 As the plot thickens, the ugly really comes out. Sad, real sad

Now instead of the family being the one to pull the plug on their loved one, the government will decide that for us, nice.

My dogs get better treatment

It's 2700 pages. I've read a very small amount of it and quit when Greta Van Sustern (lawyer/commentator on FoxNews) said it was incomprehensible to her, so I knew most would be foreign to me.
What I did read was alarming such as now under the Obama plan your physician is required to enter all info for each patient, including treatments, into a government database. Doctors are then instusted on what the government deems to be cost effective and appropriate care. This is true for EVERYONE, even if you are paying for your own "private" insurance. Doctors must comply with the regulations imposed or face penalties. I if recall this will be overseen by the Heatlh and Human Services department of the fed govt.

Oh forgot this-pregnancy is defined as a pre existing condition in Obamacare.

You watch, family doctors will be dropping like flies. My Dr. retired at the end of 2011. He had enough of it already.

I know he wasn't happy about losing so many patients that he had come to know on a personal level over the decades. It was purely a business decsion.

10:02 It has already begun. My inlaws have been going to the same Dr's office for years. The Dr they used to go for probably 30 years or more retired and they stayed with the other DR in the same practice. They now have to switch because that doctor is going to a different plan. He's not taking insurance now. You pay a fee each year. It was not cheap. I want to say about 2k each if they wanted to stay with him.
