Art Monk Suing NFL, Helmet Maker Over Concussion Injuries

NFL Hall of Famer Art Monk is joining the national debate surrounding the long-term effects of players who suffer concussions while playing. Monk is suing the league and helmet maker Riddell, reports NFL Concussion Litigation.

Monk, who spent 14 seasons with the Redskins, says he is impaired by the injuries he suffered during his football career, citing short term memory loss, headaches and speech difficulty.

Monk's lawsuit accuses the NFL of knowing and concealing the long-term effects of concussions while "engaging in a long-running course of negligent and fraudulent conduct."

Everyone who has ever watched an NFL game knows how rough it is.How on earth could someone who actually played week after week not know?If a cop gets shot during a traffic stop is he going to sue his department, claiming that they never told him anything like that could happen?NFL players get paid big bucks with the understanding that the game of football "is"their life and probably the only career they will ever have, unless they become commentators.

I didn't hear him complain while he was cashing those big pay checks!!

Get over it. You knew the risk.

This is kind of like throwing yourself in front of a moving vehicle and then suing the driver for your injuries.
