Georgetown, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a motor vehicle crash in which a Laurel woman has died that occurred last week.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:48 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012 as Russell Spicer, 46, was operating a GMC S-10 Pick up truck and was traveling eastbound on Old Furnace Road approaching the intersection of Rementer Road east of Georgetown. As Spicer attempted to make a left hand turn onto Rementer Road, the passenger side of his vehicle was struck by a 2000 Toyota Tacoma which was traveling on westbound Old Furnace Road and which was being operated by Andrew Lamberton, 26. After the collision the Toyota Tacoma traveled off of the roadway in a northwest direction where it struck a ditch before coming to rest. The GMC rotated in a counter-clockwise direction and came to rest in the roadway.
Russell Spicer as well as a female passenger in his vehicle, Mary Spicer, were both removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Nanticoke Hospital. Russell Spicer was treated for his injuries and released. Mary Spicer was subsequently flown to the Baltimore Shock Trauma Unit where she was admitted. She was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries on Sunday, April 22.
This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
