Update On Princess Anne Shooting Last Night

Salisbury News has learned the deceased man committed suicide.

As we had reported first, our witness claimed he had heard a gun shot before Police ever drew their weapons.

I'm confident once the Officers heard the gun shot they had no idea if those shots were being fired at them.

I'm also confident you'll learn in the very near future that the information I am providing is solid.
IMHO, the return fire was absolutely justified.

Solid if you believe the cops trying to CYA... what with all the blue code silence to murder's every day.

Unless the guy stood by a door or window and shot himself, making it not appear as if he was in fact shooting himself, what were the officers shooting at? Think about that and get back to me.

If I hear one more negative comment about our police officers, I will lose it!!! These men and women take their lives in their hands every single day even for a routine traffic stop. Anyone remember Eddie Plank???
Please wait until all the facts come out before you start questioning these officers. There was a high speed chase involved here that could have ended badly for innocent victims driving their cars on US 13 last night. Thanks to all the officers involved, no one else was injured or killed. The world we live in has become a dangerous place and the only thing standing between us and the evil that exists out there, is the men and women in law enforcement. Think about it next time you jump to the conclusion that the officers were in the wrong.

1050--well said...I think most of the negative comments on this blog regarding police officers are written by individuals who have had previous scrapes with the law.

If they had not fired on the person after he shot himself would medical teams of been able to save him? Lawyers be coming out of the woodwork for this one. At least no innocent people or kids were hurt.

10:50, great post. Yes, I remember Eddie Plank, as I was one of his h.s. teachers. He was one of the finest I ever taught, a young man of stellar character. Whenever a shooting of an officer occurs, I think of him. And 11;07, you're probably right. Anyone who bashes a policeman no doubt had a run-in with one (or more).

Check Maryland Judiciary. This guy had an extensive record for Assault, Driving Offenses, Domestic Violence, CDS, etc.

Who cares if you 'lose' it? Practice some self control. And yes we have heard of Plank. My God, that's all we heard for months after he was killed.

It's called past for a reason. Leave it there.

not everybody has to have a a run-in with police not to care for them. crooked cops everywhere. all it takes is one to give a whole dept. a bad reputation. many cops don't respect the law they are paid to uphold. how many times do you see cops on their cell phones?

I too think the negative comments are people with a grudge against law enforcement.

Code blue of silence? You been watching too much TV/Movie drama. Stick to training day with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.

High speed chase, resisting arrest, it was dark and just 100 yards from were Officer Eddie Plank was murdered?

Considering how many trained weapons specialists were on the scene in Cambridge yesterday and after much gunfire, we were lucky to have one officer injured and the only person hit by all the gunfire. It's not easy hitting a moving target with a handgun.

Tell me if you were an officer and heard a shot you wouldn't be returning fire post haste.

you don't have to get bit by a poinsonous snake to know it's not a good idea to keep one around. Same goes for the cops, I don't need or want thema round me!
don't know which I worry more about becoming a victum of a criminal or a cop!

Hey the police chose to chase him and turn it into a dangerous situation, then shoot the dude. We live in a world where people sue you because they were shot breaking into your house. Police officers should be held responsible for their actions as well

10:50 here. For those not bright enough to get the gist of my post, Albero's post clearly states that the suspect committed suicide. It also suggests that the troopers didn't return fire until after they heard what I assume is a single shot, the shot the suspect used to mortally wound himself. Now if there's one shot, no suspect presenting a clear and imminent danger to the troopers, who in the heck were they shooting at? The only possible and reasonable answer to that question is they heard a single shot, had no clue exactly where it came from, saw no aggressive target (remember, the suspect is dead or dying), and simple started shooting towards who knows what. Were they shooting indiscriminately in the direction of the house hoping by blind luck they'd hit something? I can tell you that's not how they're trained.

To 12:04...sorry if you felt Eddie's death was all you heard about.... His parents, sister and I still live with his death today... Our daughter will be 17 years old if a few days.. never knew him...because nice drug dealer decide to take his life at point blank range and endanger others. Your sympathy is so appreciated!!!

That's a personal tragedy and should be kept personal. Sorry for your loss but that doesn't mean everyone should be subjected to it.

This was no suicide...he did not own a weapon, and he did not fire a weapon. THERE WAS NO WEAPON!!! The two officers in question approached the vehicle shooting. I do believe there are plenty of cases where opening fire is justified. That's just not the case here.

what better example would there be if not for experience? if you and your cop worshiping know-nothings have never been involved with the police, how would you know what they are like or what they do?

just because someone has a 'scrape' with leo's does not automatically make them a bad person.
