Subject: Redistricting Meeting Tonight!
Hi everyone!
I want to invite you to a political redistricting forum to be held tonight, February 8, 2012, at Salisbury Fire Department Station 16 on Cypress Street in Salisbury. Please come out and give me your input on these plans! It will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Three redistricting plans were introduced in November of 2011. I’m hoping to move this process forward with public input that will move the city council to make redistricting decisions. Again, we are waiting far too long for decisions from council regarding this and so many other issues.
I need to hear what you think about the three plans that were introduced.
Copies of the Redistricting Maps are available online or at the mayor’s office.
Thanks!
-Jim

Joe, he's such an a$$hole would you expect any less from him.
what good does it do to attend this meeting. We the public cant make any decisions. He needs to work with the council and stop grandstanding. It is not doing any good for anyone.
Grow up and act like an adult
I don't live in the city so this meeting has nothing to do with me. However, when we become adults, we focus on the topic at hand and avoid snarky, peevish remarks that lower the level of public discourse. We set a mature example. If we cannot do that, we do not sit at the grown-ups' table.
Yes my King. I will drop everything and run to listen to you! Jim Ireton - stop being a divider. You are pathetic!
In my hometown, the mayor and council do these plans together with the public.
Not in Iretonville. Council has to play catch up on this because he put out The Ireton Plans.
You poor people. So glad I am not in the city limits.
This is definitely an attack on the 3 best council members we have had in over 14 years. Jim, you need to just get over it. These 3 are here to stay and unless you change you tune you will be a one term elected official. Your days are numbered and the majority of the citizens who voted for you want you gone!!
Get with the program and work with this current council as you promised you would do. Everyone knows you want to break up the "Camden Three" because you can't control them. Guess what, the city is withing it's legal rights to keep the districts as they are. They have the obligated minority district so there is on need to change anything. How much has this game cost the tax payers already?
"Again, we are waiting far too long for decisions from council regarding this and so many other issues."
This silly issue is another slam on the council majority.
Maybe someone can jump in here and elaborate?
Isn't redistricting a legislative function and not an executive function? If so then why is the executive branch attempting these changes.
When was this announced? Was it in accordance with proper notice, or was it just public this morning with all his cohorts having notice days ago?
Joe, I know you are there right now. Give hell dude. Let us know what is going on.
Why waste my time our point does not matter.
There might have been a dozen people there that weren't part of government or operating a camera. The reception of the mayor's plans were lukewarm at best. When they come out with the numbers of the straw poll, remember the number of people voting.
When Tom Stevenson was hired as Dir of NSCC, he did not meet the requirement of holding a degree either. However, the council at the time, elected to waive that requirement - since Stevenson was such an outstanding applicant. Waiving of that was allowed by law. So, if the Council majority uses that as a disqualifier, they are wrong to do so. Rick Hoppes is as good and decent and respectful a person as there is. Yet another name to add to the hit list of Albero/Campbell/Cohen/Spies: Webster..Olinde..Wilber..Colegrove...Redderson. These people have no shame. Their time is coming. Campbell is first. Her re-election is next spring, and no way she survives this time.
Oh really? We will see about that, 8:16.
