AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry is a double-dipper, collecting a salary and retirement benefits simultaneously, according to a personal financial disclosure form made public Friday.
The report filed with the Federal Election Commission shows that Perry is collecting his $7,700 monthly state pension in addition to his nearly $133,000 annual salary as governor. State law allows any employee to begin collecting retirement benefits if their years of military and state service plus their age adds up to more than 80.
To qualify, the 61-year-old Perry counted his five years in the Air Force and 24 years in public service in Texas, including as a part-time legislator, agriculture commissioner, lieutenant governor and governor.

Wow! If thats true ($7700 per month PENSION!?), that's unreal. $7700 a MONTH as a PENSION for PUBLIC SERVICE?? Are you kidding? I don't care WHAT you are used to having, or doing, in public service, that much money as a pension is an insult to the average American. We don't elect Kings or provide a luxurious retirement for PUBLIC SERVICE. Oh my bad......apparently we do. Especially since he, like the rest of those cheating slimeballs, got RICH using his position and influence to cash in on his information and authority. I guess the pension gives him an air of selfless service and innocence. Maybe voting will help.....mwwuuuuhahahahaha.....
Ok? I know plenty of Vets who went on to work for the USPS for the exact same reason. Double dipping happens in almost every state, and it happens a lot more often then people expect. What's wrong with it?

Let me state what I feel is wrong with it.
He's in the positions for ONE purpose. That purpose is to increase his bank account.
He doesn't care about Texas (the citizens of) and he doesn't care about the citizens of the United States of America!
Go ahead and vote for him though, and IF he is elected, you'll wish this country was back in the state it is now instead of what it ends up being! Now is a cake walk compared to what it will be if he wins!
While I agree that this is an ugly practice, Perry is only accepting money to which he is legally entitled. Double-dipping is fairly common. The laws should be changed, but you can't really blame an individual for taking advantage of this stupidity. And before you get all outraged at Perry, ask yourself if you would turn down money that was contractually yours.
