The Keep Athens Beautiful Committee has been putting up the nativity scene since 2002, and County Judge Richard Sanders says it’s not violating any law, according to ABC News affiliate KBMT.
“Because we have all the other decorations, it’s legal,” Sanders said. “Our county attorney has looked into it.”

There may be slight inaccuracies regarding the exact day Christ was born,or exactly who was present when he was born. That we all know and that is not what this group is referring to.They are implying that Christ is some sort of fairy tale and that everything Christian related was made up.I can't even open my eyes in the morning without witnessing the reality of god.By mans law and gods law atheists have the right not to believe.Problem is,I have never understood their rationale nor they mine.
If the Atheist's don't like it they don't have look at it.
If these guys want freedom from religion, they already have it. Just don't try to take my freedom of having my religion away from me. That is what they are trying to do.
So lets say that there is no God.... it's all make believe...so why does this bother them? Isn't Santa make believe also?
I agree with 3:27
You can't open your eyes without seeing something God has made. Since when did it become freedom FROM religion?? I thought it was freedon OF religion.
If the government approves one religious perspective on public land, it must allow all perspectives to participate if they want to. Christians want a manger scene, then they must also allow what ever the atheists want to display also (or what ever any other faith wants for that matter.)
Ask yourself, do you argue for the freedom "of" religion, or just your religion. Any fair minded person who argues for freedom "of" religion would support and defend these Atheists.
Atheist's are bigot's!
If the Atheists are offended by the Nativity scene on state property why are they not screaming in NY when the muslims close down entire streets so that they can all pull out their prayer rugs?
This is so stupid. The article says the people fighting the nativity scene are in Wisconsin. Seems to me that is a far cry from Athens, TX. Seems like they ahould worry about their own state and leave Texas to the Texans.
8:33-Great point.
