Yes, the homless people should have Christmas lights to look at when urinating in the plaza. However, it will keep them awake. Also, isn't this a good way to spend our tax payers money having department heads out counting lights. Maybe we can get them to sing Christmas carols and have the counsel play the three stooges for affect.
Question "How many people does it take to count the Christmas lights"?
Answer " In Salisbury evidently the entire management team of the city".
I wonder why Ireton wants to know this? Maybe he wants to allocate the cost to the building owners of the plaza and he needs to calculate the fair share per foot of each storefront.
I was told that Walmart is DONATING the lights. It wasn't the idea of the Mayor or Council member to help dowtown look good, it was the generousity of Walmart offering to give the City new lights, so the Mayor had the City workers remove the old ones so that the DONATED lights can be put up.
Look at it this way, if the Jimster is out counting lights, he's not busy with the next smear campaign on three members of council in cahoots with Barrie Tilghman and the Daily Slime.
I can't believe that the Dept Heads don't have better things to do. More important issues. Projects needing completion etc. Even auditing their office's to be in compliance with the rules, charter, whatever......Or is it just to have the Dept. Heads together for a social hour? I bet they have coffee somewhere floating around, atleast for Mayor Jim.
Is that what the city gets is some Christmas lights in trade for extra police security? Somebody should look into the agreement in terms of payment, what do they pay? Gift cards? City taxpayers want to know? I want my coucil Rep Shanie Shields to ask that question!
Salisbury is MORE than the plaza. How about some light in other parts of the city. Who is going to see them downtown? Homeless? How about light up route 13, route 50, easternshore dr., riverside, we are taxpayers also and need a little joy.

How much more ignorant can this mayor get? Department heads out counting lights? And how much do we pay this clown? Good grief!!

Reminds me of the movie 'Gran Torino' when Clint Eastwood tells that boy to count birds in a tree.
A mayor and all dept. heads to count light bulbs?!
This would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
