Army Being Sued For $750 Million
Eighty-three victims and family members of the Fort Hood shootings are suing the Army for $750 million. The plaintiffs say the Army was negligent in not getting rid of Maj. Nidal Hasan before he was able to open fire. He killed 13 people and wounded 32 in 2009. His military trial is scheduled to start in March. Hasan is an American-born Muslim who prosecutors say turned radical while serving. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.

As a veteran's wife, I find this appalling. While the Army was negligent, these things happen in wartime and every soldier knows he is taking on extreme risk. $750 million from the Army will result in budget cuts, layoffs and taxes which will affect only those least to blame.
$millions will not bring anyone home or undo what happened.

You just admitted the Army was negligent. These things DO NOT happen in wartime and should not happen at all. While troops have been killed by friendly fire on the BATTLEFIELD, and that's bad enough, accidents happen.
This was premeditated MURDER on a state-side base. Big difference there.
And budget cuts and the other things you mentioned that may occur if they win this suit is no reason not to go forward.
The cuts will probably happen regardless.
Any soldier knows the risk in BATTLE but on a base? Come on.
If the Army could have prevented this tragedy and didn't, they need to be held accountable.
Isn't that what everyone keeps saying lately? Accountability? Well, this is it.
Just wish the ones who shot him were better marksmen.
I was appalled that soldiers weren't allowed to carry firearms on base. If they were, this nut case wouldn't have fired the first round. (well, maybe one)
