Test Your Urban Myth IQ

Urban myths are always with us. Some of them predict dire events, some are funny and others are useful.

For example, can you really save lost data by putting your hard drive in the freezer? According to Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel, that is exactly what you can do. While freezing won't solve the problem, it may get your hard drive working long enough for you to recover essential data.

A number of gas stations have posted signs that cell phone use is prohibited near the fuel pumps. Is there a real danger or is this another myth?

There are a lot of warnings floating around on the Internet and in emails that cell phones can cause an explosion or a fire if used while filling up the car. However, there has never been a documented case of this happening. According to the Discovery Channel, there has never been any scientific evidence confirming this.
