Do Thin Parents Pass On Skinny Genes?

People with thin parents are more likely to be thin themselves, a new study has found. But don't go chalking up weight woes to bad genes just yet.

Researchers from University College London in the U.K. studied more than 4,400 families with more than 7,000 children. Kids with two thin parents were twice as likely to be thin themselves compared to kids with two parents at the heavy end of a healthy weight range. And kids with overweight or obese parents were progressively less likely to be thin.

Instead of genes, how about this: Parents who are gluttons pass on bad behavior by example.

Of course the PC crowd could never say that, because it would require a certain level of personal responsibility. It's too easy to call it a "disease" so the government can declare it a "disability" so they can steal more of my money and give it to the "disadvantaged" (with politicians' ultimate goal of buying more votes).

I believe lifestyle is a major factor but our genes also play a big part in it.
Our DNA dictates how our bodies function.
there are people who have to work hard to stay at a healthy weight and there are people that are either too lazy to do it or don't have the knowledge to do it.

They pass on their stupid genes too, as evidenced above. But some take those genes and educate them.

Others are, like you say, and demonstrate, too lazy. They would rather carry on the family tradition.
