President Obama announced Wednesday that he will tap a Montgomery County legislator and pop star Shakira to join his Hispanic education team.
Council member Nancy Navarro (D-East County) — the only Hispanic member of the Montgomery County Council and a former Montgomery Board of Education president — will be appointed, along with the Latino diva and two others, to a commission that will advise Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan on improving education for Hispanic students.
