National Guardsmen Ridiculed After Nearly Drowning In Irene Rescue Attempt

Several members of the New Jersey National Guard were mocked Sunday as two of their trucks were swamped by floodwaters during an Irene rescue attempt that went awry.

An observer who filmed the incident in a video that has gone viral expressed disbelief as he and others watched the guardsmen escape their trucks through the windows and crawl on top of the trucks.

“Are you guys that stupid?” the man said. “Why would you take a guy that can’t swim?”

“You guys are stupid,” the man said later.

What's new? The NG was equally trashed after MLK's assassination in 1968 and the riots that followed. Everyone wants credit but nobody wants the blame.

Well that's what you get when unprofessional and poorly educated people put on that uniform.

They just do it for beer money. And to think they are important perhaps.

If 12:39am would learn the fact, he/she would realize that the vehicles were designed to be functional when submerged and had an upper escape hatch for personnel to evacuate IF the water was exceeding vehicle capability. In this particular situation, the depth of the water could only be guessed at. The service people were doing their job as instructed. Get a damn life, and don't be as uninformed as the person who took the video and made the ignorant comment. Help instead of bash!

anonymous 10:44, IT WAS STUPID!

We train our soldiers to be a lot smarter than these clowns were acting.

The fact that the vehicle became disable proves they did NOT accomplish their mission and should have aborter when the water started coming in the doors, or at least that level.
