One would think that Wicomico's Emergency plan would include opening debris station up to the public early. This photograph was taken at 12:55 p.m., and as you can see the people were lined-up all the way out to the RT 50 intersection.

That's what you get when you vote for a Democrat like Rick Pollitt for County Executive. He surrounded himself with a bunch of clowns like himself.
Definitely poor planning and leadership on his part. Hopefully this Charter Review Committee will recommend going back to the council/manager form of government.

why dont they try recycling in their own yard.you know the county does have other things to do.i cleaned up the branchs in my yard by cutting up most for this winters firewood.the rest went to my compost pile.
We went to the dump by the Airport 2 times and had to come back with 2 trucks loaded down with limbs. Totally irritating. We assumed that it would be open at 1:00 like usual. Apparently one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing in this county. You would think that Rick Pollitt with his $85K w/ car and expense account would have opened up the dump himself. He is just money wasted and serves absolutely no purpose. Get rid him and we can save $100K.
As I was riding by I thought look at all the morons waiting in line..don't they realize everything got shut down because of the hurricane...have some common sense folks..

Looks as though there was taxpayers enginuity in my estimation. Trucks went-in dumped their loads and off they went. . . with or without county employees.
Big Jim Ireton and his decision to have a curfew until 7PM was a perfect excuse for them not to go to work. What an idiot, the sun was shining at 10:30 AM. You had him pegged, the clown.

I saw many Public Works people and vehicles out yesteray clearing out drains and that sort of thing in anticipation of the storm. Could it be that, having worked Saturday, they were given Sunday off? Or do you expect them to work every day? So whose fault is it? Ireton's? Pollitt's? Sorry for your irritation,5:00; if that is your biggest irritation in life, consider yourself blessed.
To 8:49 - Look the Public Works people should work when the people actually need them. They normally don't really work because there is no work to do. If you call driving a dump truck and riding up next to a storm drain and then having three County personnel shovel three shovel fulls of debris work . . . well you get my drift.
Bottom line - it was a hurricane - what are the citizens suppose to do? I guess you would rather have the citizens mobilize and dump all of their hurricane debris right on top of City Hall.
The first time we rode to the landfill today with all our yard debris, a few cars were lined up, the gate was closed and locked and two county employees were sitting in a truck, one on the cell phone. He got out of the truck after talking on the phone and told us that he had made a call and someone would be calling him back shortly to let him know if they could open the gate. Sure enough, after a few minutes he received a call and the gate was unlocked. The second time we went, we had to wait in this line to dump our yard debris and the third visit was the same. Some of us have to work on Monday and had no other choice but to get the mess cleaned up and out of the yard today - Poor choice on the part of the county not to have it open today. Now if the County wants to come to my home on Monday-Friday and clean it up for me, I'd certainly be appreciative and wouldn't complain about the landfill not being open today. Until that happens though, they need to think for a change and do what is in the best interest of the citizens of this county.

Touchet - I absolutely agree. I was in line at the Parsonsburg debris landfill and never saw a county employee and/or supervisor.
One of the citizens had to open the gate as the padlock was left unlocked. Fortunately - this allowed many pick-up trucks to enter and remove their hurricane debris. It was very poor planning on behalf of the County.

When did the transfer station at the airport take Limbs? House, Steel an recycle. But not limbs.
I don't know what you all are whining about. Joe says there wasn't any damage other than a screen that blew over. Don't know where you got all that stuff to take to the dump. Kwitcherbellyachin.
Amazing that there is to be no scavenging at the land fill, but the big black guy who drives the loader at Brick Kiln is always rooting through the roll offs looking for items.
how do you know there tax payers only about a 1/3 of residents pay taxes. rest are leaches like you
