ACCUSED:
1) Greg Jay Petersen W/M/48yoa
Hidden Bay Drive, Berlin, MD
2) Chad Albert Alana O/M/40yoa
Dagsboro Road, Delmar, MD
NARRATIVE: On Thursday, May 11, 2011 a Deputy from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Kelly Foods Corporation, Old Ocean City Blvd., Berlin, Worcester County, Maryland for the report of theft of pallets from their warehouse.
The investigation quickly identified that there was a substantial loss associated with the theft and that two former employees may be involved. At that point the investigation was forwarded to the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation.
As a result of interviews and further investigation Petersen and Alana were verified as being involved in these thefts. The thefts occurred during a period between July 2010 and March 2011 from the Dale Road Warehouse. The Kelly Foods – Accounting Department calculate the loss of 3,060 pallets having a combined replacement value of $17,595.00.
As of Wednesday, July 27, 2011 both Petersen and Alana have been served on the charges of; Theft, Theft Scheme and Conspiracy.

This is the kind of stuff that happens when the Righ hand doesnt know what the Left hand is doing! They had permision to remove the palletts...then the Upper powers that be...desided that they didnt want to have the palletts removed any longer ....but no one told the guys here.....What a waste of the courts time.....

I find it interesting that they were "served" and not arrested. Something doesn't add up.
One thing that isn't clear, were they "former" employees when they were served, or when they allegedly removed the pallets without permission? If they no longer worked for Kelly Foods, and took the pallets, then they have real problems. If they were employees while the alleged theft occurred, then this might just be a case of miscommunication (as I think the first, cacographic, poster was attempting to state).
The rest of the story was The stolen wood was used to fuel a methlab that was build in the woods behind the plant....supplying crystal to Berlin and Ocean Pines
Ok, if they did have permission, why was there an investigation about it?? Wouldn't they have stated that in the beginning of this whole thing?? That would have avoided any questions about who, what, where and why, and then it probably could have been dealt with internally. It seems to me that since there was an investigation, that there was a lack of information, i.e. they lied about doing or not doing it, thus, the law had to step in and figure things out. If we knew how they got "caught" that would probably help explain things too... but hey, I'll go along with Methlab Man's comment.... too funny!!! Ya never know these days!!
To the above who "find it interesting" that these two were served not arrested. That is totally routine. From all statements made in the investigation, the investigators had more then they needed for an arrest. Normally If there is no reason to believe there is risk of flight before trail, no arrest has to be made and serving is normal.
This was only what the plant could prove... for years they stole plant property and sold it for alot of $$$....
The son of Greg Petersen was arrested not that long ago for fighting with the police I saw in the paper
