DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Environmental officials are investigation two toxic chemical releases.
WDEL says the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control reports the first release happened Monday about 2:20 p.m. at the refinery in Delaware City. A gas compressor overloaded and
activated a flare compressor, which flared sulfur dioxide.
The second was two hours later at Delmarva Power's substation in Hockessin. There, used batteries opened, releasing acid onto the ground and into the water.
