African-American prisoners protected against alcohol- and drug-related deaths, but pattern doesn't hold for white men, study finds
NEW YORK — Black men are half as likely to die at any given time if they're in prison than if they aren't, suggests a new study of North Carolina inmates.
But that pattern didn't hold for white men, who on the whole were slightly more likely to die in prison than outside, according to findings published in Annals of Epidemiology.

It would be "racist" of me to comment my thoughts right now, so I will abstain...
White male
Where are the million men that 3,000 went to during that march in D.C.? Outrageous.
Another great example of how media distorts science to create a more sensational headline. The research focused on black and white INMATES, not "black men". The headline implies that the vast majority of law abiding black men are somehow safer in prison.
The black men are safer in prison , they can't rob banks , rob stores and the cops can't get them. That's not racist , that's the truth!
If they don't like their odds maybe they should change their lifestyle.
