Well, it’s really MarVa post offices. Curiously, no Delaware post offices are under consideration for closure from the US Postal Service.
The Eastern Shore PO’s “under study” are:
Assawoman | VA | Massey | MD | |
Betterton | MD | Sanford | VA
Bivalve | MD | Saxis | VA | |
Craddockville | VA | Sherwood | MD
Crocheron | MD | Townsend | VA
Ewell | MD | Tyaskin | MD | |
Harborton | VA | Tylerton | MD
Henderson | MD | Upper Fairmount | MD
Hillsboro | MD | Willis Wharf | VA
Locustville | VA | Withams | VA |

If you’re from Delaware, send a thank you note to Joe Biden.

With apologies to the people that live in those communities, if a Post Office branch doesn't meet expenses close it. The gravy train has run out of gravy.
Too bad the fools in DC won't take the proper steps to control a runaway budget.
Two of the branches are in the same community. To shut down both of them will cut off the postal service there period since they are not even connected to another place. What are they supposed to do then? Smoke signals? Carrier pigeons. Shut down one? Maybe. Both? No. They can trim off postal buildings somewhere else that has actual access to others.
I thought some of the post offices in Eastern Wicomico would have been hit. I don't think they need a post office in Parsonsburg, Pittsville and Willards. Cutting 1 or 2 of those would help also.
How do you cut a post office from Ewell and Tylerton? Smith Island would not have an office at all. Do the inhabitants have to go to the mainland every time they need to pick up their mail or send it?

I doubt that they would close both. Remember this isn't the final list; just the ones under "study".
I haven't checked, but does Rhodes Pt. have a PO? If so, then Smith Island would still have one if they closed Ewell and Tylerton.
It's my opinion that these post masters should have been more agressive in the cost saving attitude I.E. , what can we do to save this unit from closing , too late now , should have been done years ago.
You are right 8:37 , the gravy train is over.
I have never seen such lack of productivity in some of these smaller post offices , Bivalve , Tyaskin and Nanticoke. Most stay on the cell phone and sit on their butts. Besides that , none are african americans , what gives with that? We want some of that gravy!
8:57, compared to most of the post offices on the list, Parsonsburg, Pittsville, and Willards are large! Also, each of these has many more people living outside of the town, sometimes several miles away from the town, than within the town limits. For example, Parsonsburg includes a wide area on both sides of Route 50.
..get a life 9:08..tyaskin does have an aa worker
GA this is 844 am. No Rhodes Point doesn't have a post office. They used to years ago but it shut down long ago. I think they need to leave both open simply because it would be hard for people from Tylerton to get up to Ewell every time they needed to send a piece of mail and vice versa.

I understand they are larger than some on the list. I'm not saying to stop delivery of mail but you don't need to pay the salary of 3 post masters for these 3 small towns.
what about salisbury? do we need a "main branch" on rt 50 AND the one downtown AND the space over in college square shopping center AND the one in the stip center just north of the mall? i think if they closed the north, south & main street locations, did some upgrades to the rt 50 location that would more than suffice.
Cathy, you probably feel that way because your shop is literally within a mile of the Route 50 location.
the crocheron post office is a joke, it's literally in someones living room and only has about 30 boxes. Close it and let the people drive 5 miles up the road to the next closest one in toddville or crapo. The Gravy Train Is Over!
My dad is a postmaster, luckily not at one of these locations mentioned. He routinely works considerabely more than 40 hours a week serving his community, personally going out on the street every day to fulfill his duties. There are a lot of good people like him out there earning every cent of their check its a shame a few not as deserving are bringing them down.
@anon 1:59 - i'm not sure who you think I am (I'm assuming you think I own Cathy's Pet Salon?) but that is not me. I actually work downtown within walking distance of the Main Street post office so its quite convenient but i still think its unnecessary...
