BREAKING NEWS: O’Malley Accuses GOP of Trying to Destroy the Economy

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) said that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and the “dinosaur wing of the Republican Party” are actively trying to ruin the economy by undermining debt-ceiling negotiations.

Speaking to reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference Thursday, O’Malley said certain elements of the GOP are trying to undermine the economy to harm President Obama politically. O’Malley claimed that these Republicans are trying to either push the country into default or hurt the economy by cutting government jobs.

“I believe that there are some members – some members – of the Republican Party who, in order to defeat President Obama in the next election, would like to kill the jobs recovery now, either by default or by massive sudden cuts to public sector jobs,” O’Malley said.

When asked by CNSNews.com after the press conference which Republicans he was talking about, Gov. O’Malley fingered the House Majority Leader and a “dinosaur wing” of the GOP.

“I’m talking about Eric Cantor and the dinosaur wing of the Republican Party,” O’Malley said.

It would seem to me he has enough to worry about with Md. and not national politics. I'm guessing
Rick Pollitt took lessons from him by spending 2 days last week in Annapolis and then doing his vacation this week.We are screwed.

If Moody's does downgrade the US bond standing - Maryland goes right with it! The reasons are many, but the most obvious is the rediculous deficite spending that our government is involved in on both the state and national level. Gov. O'Malley and Pres. Obama should get the message - The American people want balanced budgets for our country and for our state. If O'Malley thinks that is "Prehistoric" thinking by a bunch of "dinosaurs" he's wrong. It's right thinking by people who have to live within their means month to month.

I want to know how this will hurt O'bama bin lauden more than hehurt himself? Clearly it won't... if O'bama bin lauden doesnt win it is his own fault...

As for the other posters, I agree it is O'faily's fault that Maryland is losing its business and bond ratings because, hey their thinking is "what haven't we taxed yet"...

I also whant to know how will losing a govt job hurt the economy more than aprivate sector job?

get a clue O'faily, no matter who you work for if anyone loses a job they will be on un-employment period so in essence their the same... It is clear and every American should now see that the dems only want to spend which is why they can't even agree to get this settled... the reubs want a spending cut to raise debt ceiling but dems want to raise it without cuts, so you tell me how exactly this will hurt someone already hurting...

Leave the big decisions to those who can spell, Goober. We need your opinions like Casey Anthony needs a babysitter.

@ 1:23 - Of course he's interested in this....he's jockeying for Obama's next pick to be VP. Owe'Malley isn't interested and doesn't care about the impact on the citizens of MD - he's intested in furthering HIS political career.

I don't deny that spelling is important, but as most liberals do, our "Democratic Socialists of America" friend is attempting to deflect attention away from the issues of deficit spending and the need for a balanced budget to something a petty as misspelled words. The thing that our friend is missing is that these are valid concerns currently facing our leaders (deficit spending and an unbalanced budget) and he chooses to respond by name calling (Goober)and a weak attempt at a joke on a suject the contains no humor (Casey Anthony). Next time try addressing the issues rather than launching a personal attack on someone who made a reasonable post.
