GREENVILLE, Va. (AP) - A state prison inmate in Virginia has won a seven-year legal battle with the state, allowing him access to Muslim reading materials, CDs and DVDs.
Rashid Qawi Al-Amin's settlement also means he'll receive $2,000 and the library at Greenville Correctional Center will stock the Muslim religious tracts and recordings.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports that Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's office settled the dispute this month after a series of court rulings in Al-Amin's favor. As part of the settlement, the state admitted no wrongdoing.
Al-Amin was convicted in 1989 in Norfolk of murder and use of a firearm. He was sentenced to 52 years in prison. He is scheduled to be released in 2016.
The New York native was once known as Donald Tracey Jones.

Thats not what is sending our country to hell. Allowing illegal immigrants to work in this country tax free, have children and then you and I support their children because they go and apply, qualify and receive any and all state services they can. If you cant get rid of them give them a social security number to pay taxes and then maybe we could afford to buy gas because we surely would not be in a recession. GO FIGURE!

funny thing about all those mulim converts in this country, the arabs hate blacks. Plenty of cases over there where the arabs have slaughtered black people. Yet american blacks use the muslim religion to attack whites. They ought to study history and see how those they want to throw in with really view them.

This is very common in the Prison system for inmates to change thier names to Muslim names at expense of the tax payer.
These are home grown terrorist and when they are released they present other problems to society.
The gay Muslim Inmates are being recruited to carry explosives up thier butt. The families to get paid big dollars; according to HomeLand Security training and my 23 years (RETIRED) Correctional officer experience.
as a convicted murderer, he gets what he wants in prison at taxpayer expense. Go figure. I can't get what I want & have never been convicted of anything. Doesn't make sense...does it? Damn the lawyers for taking up for "his side".
