USPS Financial Rescue May Not Stop 'Death Spiral'

Postmaster General Pat Donahoe said he's ready to announce more RIFs and without legislative help USPS will face insolvency this year. Sen. Susan Collins introduced a bill to help solve some of the challenges the Postal Services faces.

Seems to me that the USPS should simply be permitted to declare bankruptcy. It's covered with too many bandaids as it is.

How can it? It has no debts. Disbanded perhaps but I don't see that happening either.

502-It is close to it's borrowing cap of 15 billion, it does have debts, to the taxpayers.

We should do what many european countries have began doing, disbanding gov't carriers and returning to private couriers. No need for a gov't enforced monopoly.
