Detectives Investigate Stabbing At High School

Location:  A.I. DuPont High School, 50 Hillside Road, Wilmington, DE
 
Date of Occurrence:  Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 12:40 p.m.
 
Victim:  14 year old Wilmington, DE male (student)
 
Defendant: 14 year old Hockessin, DE male (student)
 
Charges:
 
-Assault 2nd Degree
-Carrying a Concealed Dangerous Instrument
 
Resume:  
Wilmington- The Delaware State Police arrested a 14 year old A.I. DuPont High School student yesterday after he stabbed another student during an altercation at the school in Greenville yesterday afternoon.
 
The incident occurred in the boy’s locker room of the school at approximately 12:40 p.m. as the victim, a ninth grade student at the school, and the defendant, also a ninth grade student, were involved in a verbal altercation. During the altercation, the defendant lunged at the victim and stabbed him in the back with a pair of metal tweezers. The victim then began to chase the defendant, however; he was able to flee from the gym area. The victim was then escorted to the school nurse who then contacted EMS. The victim was then transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated and released with non life threatening injuries.
 
The defendant was arrested and charged with one count each of Assault 2nd Degree and Carrying a Concealed dangerous Instrument. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and released after posting $500.00 secured bail.
