Incident: First Degree Assault

Date of Incident: 7 January 2011

Location: 400 block of E. College Avenue, Salisbury, MD

Suspects: Tyrone David Hankerson, 39, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 7 January 2011 at 10:13 AM, a deputy from the WCSO responded to a residence in the 400 block of E. College Avenue and met with a visibly upset female subject. The deputy learned that a subject, Tyrone David Hankerson, had come to the residence to confront the female subject. Allegedly when the female opened the door thinking it was someone else, Hankerson forced himself into the residence and placed a handgun against the female’s head. The victim alleged that Hankerson continued to make threats before leaving in a green sedan.

The investigating deputy was unable to locate Hankerson so a warrant was obtained that charged him with Burglary, Assault and Handgun related crimes/

Deputies, along with members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team located Hankerson later that evening at a residence on Marine Road and took him into custody. Hankerson was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Hankerson in the Detention Center in lieu of $200.000.00 bond.
