D.C. Area's Summer Weather Named Worst In U.S.

WASHINGTON - If you spent time this summer saying "This weather is the worst!", a group of meteorologists agree with your sentiment.


The Weather Channel says the Washington D.C. area experienced the worst summer weather in the United States.

The channel's main focus was the damaging thunderstorms that rolled through the region in late July and early August.

The Weather Channel says the storm that hit the area on July 25 had winds as high as 90 miles per hour. This first storm crippled the region's power companies, with some area residents not seeing power for up to four days afterwards.

The storm that blew through the region on August 5 hit the Del Ray section of Alexandria particularly hard, ripping large trees out of the ground and cutting power to over 60,000 residents

Sometimes these bad storms will result when scientists move the jet stream.

Controlling the weather can be a tricky thing. I just wish they would allow it to rain every now and then. We used to get rain in the spring and summer. Now we just get hazy chemical filled skies that look like rain is coming, but then it doesn't materialize.

I beleve the weather is being changed on purpose. It is to much of a change to be natrual.
