2010-11 Calendar For Wicomico County Public Schools Now Available

The 2010-11 calendar for Wicomico County Public Schools is on its way to schools, which will distribute the calendars to every student so that the calendar can be used at home. Calendars are also distributed to staff members and many community partners; copies will also be available at the Board of Education Office at Mt. Hermon Road and Long Avenue in Salisbury and in school offices.

In addition to dates for events throughout the school year, the calendar includes a handbook for Wicomico Schools, directory information for schools and offices, student illustrations and definitions of the values approved by the Board of Education, and information on the 40 Developmental Assets. These assets have been identified by the Search Institute as the key building blocks of healthy development that will enable young people to grow up healthy, caring and responsible. The Communications Office and the Office of Safe Schools collaborated to produce this year’s calendar.

Student illustrators and authors for the 2010-11 calendar are listed below. Students are identified both here and in the calendar by the school attended last year when the student submitted work for the calendar. There is one exception: Writings from students of the STARS Summer Achievement Academy were submitted over the summer, and reflect the student’s current school.

The students whose creativity and wisdom are printed in the calendar will be honored at the Nov. 16 Awards & Recognitions Night at Westside Intermediate School.
