Due to continued near drought-like conditions, County Executive Richard M. Pollitt Jr., said that the burning ban put into effect on July 7, 2010, for Wicomico County will continue until further notice. All outdoor burning is prohibited with the exception of the use of gas or charcoal grills and the staging of professional fireworks displays. Burning ban violations carry a $500 fine per incident. Burning ban enforcement is administered by the County Planning and Zoning Code Enforcer. Citizens are advised to call Planning and Zoning at 410-548-4860 to report violations.
All burning permits are voided during the ban. The County Health Department will not be issuing burning permits until further notice.

wow...did they miss that downpour on Thursday?? That rain soaked everything...I don't think a fire could start in my yard even if I used gasoline...and the woods behind my house are STILL damp and moist...
Maybe where you are, but that here in Salisbury that dampness didn't last long at all. Besides what are you wanting to burn anyway? Even without a burn ban it's illegal to anything but brush in the county (and not allowed to burn anything within city limits)
Burning leaves, twigs, fallen branches, etc....and the occasional burglar, but haven't had any of those for a few years....don't know why...
