Teaching drown-proofing to elementary school kids is worth whatever it costs.

This can very easily happen. When I was a teenager, I saved a little spanish girl from the same thing. She jumped into an area that looked very sandy and shallow but the dark spot next to it was a very deep hole and she was only six. When I jumped in to get her, I did not feel a bottom at all. Swimming can be very deceiving.

Swim or not, as an adult Im not going to watch a little kid drown, Im going in after them.
